2018 Volvo XC40 Release Date, Price, Redesign

2018 Volvo XC40 of X will be the first production model Volvo in adopting the new compact modular architecture that Volvo developed jointly with its parent company Geely. This platform is the different version of the developed Scalable product architecture to support vehicles lighter and smaller, like other series 40 models, including the V40 hatchback and S40 small sedan. What is also important in this platform is the fact that promises the implementation of advanced electrification, connectivity and autonomous driving more refined dynamics.

On the other hand, judging from the heavily camouflaged prototype, it seems that the production version will not differ much from the 40.1 Concept car. The prototype appears to have concept outlines in its frontal area, as well as angle C pillars. Apart from that, should adopt some elements of the style of the XC90. The new crossover will be concave grille, headlights of Thor hammer and L-shaped taillights. The side panels should show a curved waist line.

We don't know much about the inside of the model, since the shooting spy does not show it and Volvo also hides details about it. However, we expect some similarities with the XC90. Engine 2018 Volvo XC40 specifications

In the engine Department, the new 2018 Volvo XC40 will offer three- and four-cylinder engines. A new engine of 1.5 litre three-cylinder will be available with nearly 200 horsepower. Four-cylinder engines will be available and the gasoline models should have logos T2 and T3. Outside the U.S., Volvo must also offer D2, D3 and D5 diesel engines.

However, the more powerful must be models with T5 logo. They should include similar as in the XC90 T5 Twin Engine Configuration. This plug-in power train should consist of the gasoline engine three-cylinder 180 HP, 74 HP electric motor and battery pack. Total production is estimated approximately 250 HP.

The hybrid model based on the front-wheel drive will include a new dual-clutch 7-speed transmission. An additional engine mounted in the rear should feed the rear wheels in the four wheel drive option. Some sources suggest the electric-solo scope of up to 30 miles.

Price 2018 Volvo XC40 and release date

The new 2018 Volvo XC40 crossover in the best of cases, should be on sale by the end of 2017. However, it is more likely at the beginning of 2018. The model will go against rivals such as Mercedes GLA, Infiniti QX30, BMW X 1 and Audi Q3. It should be competitive around price of $31,070.
